As a culture, the P’nti love to express themselves through dance. They have taken great delight in learning the dances of North America and more. Jrooti especially loves the costumes that many traditional dances from all over the Earth require. Here Jrooti struck a pose for me as she was learning some of the classical dances of India. This original 7″ x 9″ pastel portrait was done on high quality pastelmat paper and is mounted on a sturdy backer board.

When I did this portrait for Jrooti, I gave her many choices of classic poses in Indian Dance. She liked this one the best. I asked her how her headpiece was attached and she just shrugged and told me it wa a water soluble adhesive. Apparently in more formal attire, the P’nti gals are okay just gluing things on. I don’t know why, but it makes me chuckle and shake my head. I guess it’s a lot less invasive than some of the things we do to our hair. – Su
